The Widows Offering

Luke 21

1-4Just then he looked up and saw the rich people dropping offerings in the collection plate. Then he saw a poor widow put in two pennies. He said, "The plain truth is that this widow has given by far the largest offering today. All these others made offerings that they'll never miss; she gave extravagantly what she couldn't afford—she gave her all!"

I think this is talking some what about our actual monetary offering but more so about our psychical, spiritual offering. What are we willing to give to God? How much of our life are willing to hand over. Are we like the rich who gave only the things they wouldn't miss? I know I have been that way. Only giving the things that are easy to let go of. God is wanting us to give it all up. Are we willing to give him back our actual calling and gifts? Those things you know he has gifted you to do. We need to continually lay those down at the Cross. Are we willing to give our time? How many times do we not make time for God and then use that as the excuse on why we aren't connecting with God? How many times has God been trying to whisper in our ear and we are so busy striving to make it in life that we miss it and then say God never speaks? How many opportunities have we had to share the Gospel and we dont take time to do it? We need to become like the widow who gave everything she owned to Jesus because he was worth it to her. She had nothing but the two pennies...Nothing she could rely on to replace the two pennies...But she loved Jesus so much that she gave everything and she trusted and knew he would provide for her. We have so much more to give then she did. So much more to give than we already are giving. Lets hold nothing back! Lets give him everything. Its all his anyways! I pray that we will start giving more time to God for him to show us the tasks that need to be done. More of our resources, more of our money, more of those things we hold on to. Its all his to begin with.
