Everything is grey

Barna research group
2008 poll

Just ran across this on Barna. He did a poll on the most concerning issues among Americans and how Christians compare to non believers

The top issues among non believers are
1. Poverty (78%)
Personal debt of individual Americans (78%)
2.
HIV/AIDS (76%)
3.
Illegal immigration (60%)
4.
Global warming (57%)
5. Abortion (50%)

Top Issues among Christians
1.
Personal debt (79%)
2.
Poverty (78%)
3.
HIV/AIDS (77%)
4.
Illegal immigration (68%)
5.
Abortion (67%)

Interesting how we practically mirror the world except for Global Warming...Which is nice to see we actually trust that God created this world and holds it in his hand like the Word says. But still its disturbing to see that we are more concerned with personal debt and illegal immigration than we are of the killing of 40,000,000 babies since 1973. This research actually doesn't shock me. Its easy to see that over the last 10-15 years the church and Christianity as a whole has become a lot more grey than it used to be. Meaning we have become far less black and white on moral issues and really every day life. We have started to blend in with the world instead standing out (Romans 12:2
Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out (message)). In our efforts to become socially and culturally relevant we have forsaken the absolute Truth of the Word of God.

More to come

its evident that a lot of believers and churches are loosing, have lost, or are in serious danger of loosing there "life".

John 10:10 - The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.

we are trading in the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the lie. Romans 1:22-23 - Proffesing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man...

so in turn what is happening is that we are getting accustomed to the "grey" spoken of here. we are creatures of habit and we can very easily become used to our own filth. one, among many, of the problems with this is that the world (who were supposed to change!) is seeing this. as they see us as christians living like the rest, then we tell them of the "change" that Jesus offers they ask for the evidence and we find ourselves standing empty handed without an answer.

last thought. ever jumped a fence? if you have then you know that standing on that fence is harder and much more dangerous then standing on either side of it. living in this "grey" is the same thing. pick a side and live in it. hot or cold!
